Kwahom asked about why BestLife seems slanted towards white collar types. That got me thinking - what do the forum members do?

Answer with the closest category, then add details in a comment if you want.

Question:
What type of job do you have?

Choices:
White collar Management
White collar Worker
Professional (Doctor, Lawyer, etc)
Self Employed
Blue Collar Managment/Supervisor
Blue Collar Worker

Unemployed auto worker, company figures the Chinese can do my job better. I work with my hands, I love to build things, mesmerized by mechanical objects/complexities. I roadrace as a hobby. Were I thirty years younger, I would have made a career with racing.

As the name implies, I've been home with my kids now for the past 7 years. They are 8 and 1/2 and 5. I was also a caregiver for my mother for several years until I had to put her into a nursing home last year. One of the hardest decisions I ever had to make.
On the otherhand, I love being home with my kids. It's one of the best decisions I ever made. My wife and I are very fortunate that we are able to afford to do this.

So we're a varied lot. Here's a followup question - what do your wives/SO's do?

Mine is running her own web retail operation. Not making much (or any) money yet, but she's working hard to make it a success. Plus she does the vast majority of the cooking and a lot of the house work.

My better half runs a cafe in the small burgh we reside in. She is the one person I know who looks forward to going to work in the morning. In the year and a half that it has operated she has yet to draw a check, but sometimes there is more to a career than a paycheck.

Well, I didn't get in on the first part, so I will answer both with this post.

I am the owner of a small technical consulting/training/services company. I primarily travel the country doing technical training seminars, but when I am not on the road I work with 2 other technicians on computer networks, telephone systems, etc.

My wife has a part-time position doing some marketing and other related work for a local restaurant chain. Since she works from an office in our home, she also gets to answer phones and do some office work for my business.

Sometimes it is really neat that we get to work together. Sometimes.........not so much.
