Well, it's getting to that time of year - the holiday season.
How do you decide what to give your SO? Does she drop hints (or rather, do you recognize the hints she drops)? Do you pay enough attention to her to know what she would like? How does she give you those little hints? Wouldn't it be easier if she'd just make a list and email it to you? -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

I usually get the hints she leaves. However, she also gets pissed if I don't use my imagination and think things thru and get her something that I think she would really love.

I know I'm a bit too late to response in here but I still keep my chance. Well, in regards with your problem. The possible gift that you could give with your gal is something that you made an effort to it. Why not surprised her with something that you give an effort. Or just be there for her always....

"Why not surprised her with something that you give an effort."
Since you usually don't put any effort into it all, some effort would be an incredible surprise, you lowlife loser. Like you give a *****... (Translating for ANO) |

Well, I *always* put an effort into getting a gift. I was just wondering about the rest of you losers.
That said, I think I'll be making my wife a gift this year. Just have to get my workshop finished. -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

My wife has often said I put no effort into her gifts (what the f**k, you mean a new vacuum or a bowling ball means no effort??)

The funny thing is that my wife has actually asked for a new vacuum as a gift. She's such a practical gal. I got her a vacuum and a Hot Diamonds bangle that year. -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

This is my idea as well, but there's 60 days left, have to get past the idea stage and figure out what I can make...hmmmmmmmmmmm Plus, how do I hide it? |

I have some old fine silverware boxes - the nice wooden kind. I'm going to rip the guts out of one, refinish it, line it with felt, and make it a game box. We can put cards, scorepads, pencils, dice, etc. in it and leave it out on the coffee table.
Nice looking and functional. She loves practical gifts you know. -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

HotDiamonds is a great idea, I didn't even know what a bangle was...but why do they spell "jewellery" and Webster's has "jewelry"?? Should I tip 'em off? For a price? It's the lawyer in me, y'know? |

Not sure. It's an English company, maybe that's how they spell it there.

Aiyee, they invented the language and they can't spell?? WTF?? What do I have to do, go over there and give 'em all lessons in Spelling 101??!!
OK, now I feel better, first rant of the day is out of the way. |
