Hi guys! Just a little fatherly boasting here. My youngest son (number two of two) is getting married this Saturday. She is a wonderful girl who brings out the best in my son.

I suppose I have the easy job at the wedding as father of the groom. Just look good (who doesn't in a tux?), be nice to the realtives(I should be able to handle that for a few hours) and write a check for my share of the expenses (ouch!).

With both boys married, I expect my next mielstone will be assuming the title of "Grandpa!" (I can wait a while for that one)

Congratulations, and congratulations to your son. I hope you get great in-laws as part of the bargain.

Being a Granddad is very easy, just hand them back when they mess their diapers. Later when they get old enough, you will find that they make good traveling companions, ... just leave the parents at home and it will be a lot smoother. Your relationship with them is going to be very different from the relationship you had with your own children.

Thanks for the kind words guys - and Pecos thanks for the advise on the Grandparent gig. I feel a little weird about referring to myself as a Grandpa.

Yeh, I have a little trouble with "Grandpa." To me, Granddad has always seemed more dignified.

Congratulations CE. I hope the wedding was beautiful. My oldest has a while to go before she ties the not. That's fine with me. I'm not ready for the father-in-law/grandfather monicker yet.

My Granddaughter is 21 and getting kinda serious about her boyfriend. The writing is one the wall: I am likely to be a Great Granddad a lot sooner than I ever envisioned.

Well guys - we made it! Number two son is now a married man, and I have a new "daughter."

The wedding was simple and the reception and dance were a lot of fun. Me and the missus are exhausted, but in a good way.

I appreciate all the well wishes!
