Sounds like a lot of repetitive drudge work mixed with great moments.

Is this a permanent position?

It is what you make of it. I've been home for 7 and 1/2 years now. I was also a caregiver for my mom for several years but now she's in a nursing home.
My wife has a very good job so we are very fortunate that I am able to stay home with our kids.
As far as being permanent, I can't say. But for the most part, I do enjoy being home.

Sounds like it is right for you, and your wife is happy to, that's great.

Where in MA? I was born in Boston, lived in Natick for 4 1/2 years LONG ago.

I live in Wilmington about 15 miles north of Boston. I'm originally from Medford.

Many, many years ago I was stationed at Ft. Devens. Went into Boston several times for both weekend and day trips.

Heard a thing on the radio on the way in today that the number of stay at home dads is up 300% (didn't get a time frame though).

I don't think I could ever do this. I would be crawling out of my skin after like a week. Kudos for those that can do it though.

Athomedad,
Where are you in Wilmington? I'm in Wilmington as well. Can you shoot me a PM or something? Maybe we could hook up, I'm a SAHD as well.

My brother has been a SAHD for 6+ years now, it works for him and his wife. I have summers off with my job and I climb the walls, so I don't think it's for me. Although if my wife worked full time and I quit my job we'd prbably double our income.

Hey all!

Long time reader, first time poster. To here @ least.. Pretty active on the Men's Health forums..

Thought I would give my piece here.. I've been a stay @ home dad off and on over the last 4 years, back @ it again, as well as a full time student.. Indeed, it has it's times that make me wonder if I can do another day! LOL. I have two boys, 2 and 4, and there are times.. But I'm a geek by trade so I can easily find my outlet in my home office.. My school time gives me a social outlet, so it's all what you make of it.

When you are Sierra-Oscar-Lima. I'm Hotel-Tango-Hotel.

And as always your mileage may vary.

I'm a man, I can change, if I have to. II guess...
