Ok, I had a couple of interviews earlier this month, and my old suits didn't fit any more - I'd lost enough size in my rear that the pants look too baggy.
So off to Men's Wearhouse, where you're going to like the way you look, guaranteed. The guy I worked with put me in a suit with pants that were way too big (I have a large chest and wide shoulders in relation to my waist). We got that solved, but my wife was still not happy with the suit - nothing specific, just not happy with it on me. We did end up getting it, and I wore it to my interviews. But something she said stuck with me - When you wear a suit, it should make you feel like you can take on anything. My older suits certainly had that feel. This new one, however, made me feel like I looked like an NBA player out with his posse - like I was pretending to be something I wasn't. So I took it back. I guess my dissatisfaction is more with the experience than with the suit though. The salesman looked more like a pimp than a professional - too over the top on too many things. He had big, flashy cuff links; bold tie; etc. This in a town where the average professional doesn't wear french cuffs at all, and the business climate is much more conservative. And he kept pushing "fashionable" items. To me there is a difference between fashion and style, and this guy was all fashion. Anyway, that's my random rant for today. -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |
