The Oct/Nov 2005 issue had a list of things things to try to be a (much) better man. They followed up with an article on the website (link below). Inspired by that list, I wrote some stuff in my journal titled "Things I wish I'd known at 18. Here's a sample:
- Fashion comes and goes, but style is timeless - Keeping your cool when the world is falling apart is the mark of a real man - Be polite to others. Not only is it the right thing to do, it can reap rewards even years later (I admit that some people you just can't be polite to though) - Frank Sinatra is a better role model that John Bulushi I also thought of some things that a man should be able to do: - pick out a gift for someone - change a tire (I know guys that don't know this) - hold a job - write a love letter - write a condolence letter - know something about the arts - clean a fish - change a diaper Anything from anyone else? Don't be shy (especially you new members) Here's the article link: http://www.bestlifeonline.com/cda/article/0,5507,s1-3---1849,00.html -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

Agree on this, but Frank Sinatra was an as.shole.
He never got invited to Bing Crosby's golf tournament after he punched out the president of the company that owned Pebble Beach because the president got of bed at midnight and came to the lodge with 2 bottles of champagne, when Frank was loudly demanding that someone make a meal for him. Good article, too, I hadn't read it-thanks, LKS. Message was edited by: rockhead |
