We usually go out to a nice dinner for our anniversary every year. Every five years we try to make it really special. We went on a cruise to Greece and Turkey for the 15th, went to Italy for the 20th, and are looking at taking a cruise to South America for our 25th.
That whole business of making great memories is really important. I know several people in their 80's and 90's and without exception, they all wish that they had traveled more. The ones who have lost their spouse are especially regretful if they kept putting off travel during their healthy years. |

This year will be our 18th. For our 16th (that's your crystal anniversary you know) I got my wife a nice crystal bracelet, wrote her a romantic love letter, and we went to a nice restaurant for dinner.
Last year money was pretty tight, so we stayed in and just had a dinner at home. Not sure about this year. Money should be better (based on the interview I had today), so I need to give that some thought. I agree with Pecos about travel - do it whenever you get the chance. -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

I spent our anniversary helping a friend move into a new place. My wife was ok with it as she was in a pretty rotten mood when she got home from work and didn't want to be bothered with me. I gave her her card, kissed her on the cheeck and left for the evening. we have both since talked about it and agree that we both owe each other a night out.

Two years ago when my wife could travel I took her to Sun Valley and stayed at the Sun Valley Lodge. It was actually quite reasonable (off season) and Sun Valley is a beautiful place. For our 15th we went to the Caribbean. Twenty five is in 4 years, maybe Hawaii. This coming (22) we're looking at Jackson, WY.

Right now we're talking about going to San Diego next year or maybe the Grand Canyon.
