Here are my best "Lost Loves". Of course, I have many former loves, some I remember more fondly than others. But these three still cross my mind even today.

1) Frances. When I think of Boston, I think of Frances. We spent many weekends there in the fall and winter of '80. We managed to have fun even though we had little money. We stepped over drunks to sit on the steps of the Public Library and eat a breakfast that we bought at a little bakery in the lower level of a brownstone-esque rowhouse, we went to the aquarium just because it was cheap and away from our daily lives at Devens.

2) Cheryl. High school football games, prom, all those cheesy American rituals - that's what Cheryl and I shared. Ours was a torid affair (as High School romances go that is) that ended with a sigh after I left for basic training.

3) Kathy. Weekends in the Berkshires, pretending we were Kennedys were how Kathy and I spent our time alone. That and raging parties with 50 or so of our friends at a motel in Leominster, MA. Man, I still feel sorry for that cleaning crew.
