...to try if you really don't like fish. OK the explanation cometh. I'm pretty much a "meat and potatoes" guy. The joke in the family is that my meal has to grow or graze in a field or I won't eat it. I've tried flounder, lobster, crab, clams, musels just can't seem get them down. When I was a kid i would go fishing on a friends family boat and eat the blues we caught, mostly because of the you kill it you eat it rule from hunting with my dad. Was thinking of trying swordfish steaks on the grill, or fresh water trout?? Any ideas and/or recipies??? The wife and kids all love fish and to be honest I'm tired of the same old meat and potatoes all the time.

swordfish on the grill is excellent! just brush a little olive oil and lemon on it and grill it (keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn) also try not to cook the hell out of it. i like it so that it is still moist (if it is not frozen 4 or 5 minutes a side will do)
i also like to cook mahi mahi or talapia on the grill. it tastes fishy but i love to cook salmon also. We are the people our parents warned us about. |

My wife bakes sea bass and it is delicious with simple salt, pepper and lemon.

The wife didn't like the idea of swordfish but she wants to try tuna steaks. We'll see how that goes.

I think the best type of fish to eat if you don't like fish is sirloin steak. Oh, that's not fish. I'd eat it any way, since fish is disgusting.

My second "meat" after beef is fish. I can't stand chicken, and pork (except for sausage and bacon)really does nothing for me. I don't get too extravagant with the fish, usually grilled salmon in an orange sauce. I will, on occassion eat suchi when I can afford it.

OK since I first asked this question I've tried two or three times to get the wife to buy some but the cost here is upwards of $11-12/pound. Is it me or that nuts?

That would be a reasonable cost for good fish. My wife tells me that wild salmon can run close to $18 a Lbs here in South Carolina. It is almost enough to get me to break out the fishing tackle, .... but I'm not too keen on eating anything that comes out of the Savannah River. |
