This forum heading is kind of dead, so let's start something new. Here's some "best of"s for baseball:

Best Pitcher - "Dizzy" Dean, St. Louis Cardinals
Best Batter - Pete Rose - Cinci Reds
Best Centerfielder - Mickey Mantle, NY Yankees

Anyone have others?

Best pitcher, I'm going with Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax is my second.

Best batter, yeah, Rose was awsome, Wade Boggs was damn good but something of a dick.

Best centerfielder-Lou Brock. Tori Hunter is very good now. Why can't the Yankees get a real centerfielder anymore? Who was their last good one, Mantle?

Ah, Lou Brock. I had forgotten him. I seem to remember him more for his baserunning (and stealing) than fielding.

How about classiest player? That is something that we don't have anymore (at least not much of). I vote for Lou Gehrig.

Meanest baserunner - Ty Cobb.

Worst Doper? Take your pick. I think that players caught doping shouldn't be eligible for the hall of fame, nor should their records stand. JMHO.

Dopers should get one shot... suspension for a season. Next offense is their last.

Speaking of dopers, Bonds is one back from Ruth.

And I read that he would not sign HR #713 ball for the fan, who is a serviceman.

I'm in the SF Bay ARea, it's ugly the way some of the fans worship Bonds, who so obviously used 'roids for years. And ESPN makes me sick with their "Bonds on Bonds" trash.
