The wife and I have never been to Chicago before and are planning a 3 day visit in late Sept. We will probably stay in the downtown area. Any recommendations on fun things to do, resturants or places to stay.

I've never been in Chicago long enough to visit anything, but my wife grew up about an hour away and she has been to some of the museums there. She has said they are pretty nice.

I know you can get a Chicago visitor's guide from the Illinois tourism website. I have one at home, and it has a lot of night life type things to do as well.

my wife and i went last may. we got a 4 star hotel on priceline for about 150/night. we visited the museum of science, took a archietual cruise down the river, visited the pier area, and of course took in a cubs and white sox game. she also went shopping on the magnificent mile (in exchange for the baseball games)

This is probably too late, but a Cubs game. Giardano's pizza off Michigan Ave. (Can't remember the cross street, sorry), Lincoln Park, The Hull House is just off the University of Chicago campus near 53rd and Ellis. Hope you have (or had) a good trip.

Thanks, the wife and I will be up there in about two weeks, and hopefully get away from the continued hot weather we are having down here in South Carolina.

Had a great time in Chicago and now realize that 4 days was not nearly enough. Great food, lots of things to see and do, great museums, wife loved the shopping, and we had beautiful weather. It was the right place to go after the 6 days we spent day hiking in South Dakota.

Chicago is now on my permanent list of places to revisit.
