We like to go to farm auctions - they are pretty entertaining, and generally cheap (of course that depends on what you buy).

I got a 9.6v Makita drill for $15 at the last one. Included a flashlight and two batteries and the carrying case.

I haven't been to an auction in years, but I got all worked up at the last one and bought someone's colection of worn out tools in a home made metal tool chest.

Well, I got a laugh or two out of it later. A couple of them turned out to be usable.

Turns out that old tools can be quite collectible. You might, if you still have them, have them appraised. I saw a Model-T hub wrench go for about $100 at auction.
