Do you follow any of the olympics games action? I always try to catch as much of it as I can, but I wouldn't reaarange my schedule for anything.
Caught the US mens swimming relay Gold medal last night. I'm not much of a swim fan, but it was a pretty cool thing to see. Mostly, I like the track and field events, and some of the gymnastics. |

I catch what I can when I have time to sit and watch. I didn't see the men's swimming relay but I did catch some of the other swimming last night. The men's and women's both did well.

I've been able to watch several events and find that I enjoy watching the women's events a bit more than the men's events this Olympics.

I watched some last night at a bar. They had the women's all around finals performances of those two American gals.
Pretty amazing. I know they are fairly small, but still the power that they have to have to jump and pose like that is pretty impressive. -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

I was extremely impressed with the endurance of the women water polo player.

Did anyone see that finish by michael Phelps? Just proves what not giving up can do. I heard something about one athlete throwing his medal down? Did anyone see or hear about it?

A bronze medal winner in wrestling was stripped of his medal after dropping it on th epodium and walking off. Don't remember the country.
There has been some pretty compelling drama at the Olympics this year, as always. I really know almost nothing about most of the sports playing in the games, but for some reason I find myself drawn to watching, nonetheless. |

The worst temper tantrum I ever saw in an Olympic was several years ago when a South Korean boxer refused to leave the ring for several hours after he lost a bout. He stayed there way into the night even after they closed the auditorium.

Gentlemen: My name is Joel Weber, I'm the Senior Associate Editor at Best Life, and I'm going to be moderating the forum from now on. First of all, I'm very impressed and honored that you've hung out as long as you have. As everyone here knows, we've done a very poor job of guiding the forum. So here's what I would like to know: How can I better serve you? I've got a ball in motion to eliminate the spam, and that seems to be the most common complaint, from what I can see. (On that note, if you want to email me specific user names of folks I should know about, drop me a line at joel.weber@rodale.com.) Would you like me to post a topic of discussion once or twice a week? Does everyone read the magazine? Can I ask your opinions of specific articles? Also, what else would you like to see on the site? I'm in the process of finishing a significant update so if there's constructive criticism you'd like to provide, please let me know. Bottom line: I'm here. We're finally listening. Sound off. Sincerely, Joel

Welcome BLM! you'll soon find out who the spammers are, they post every hour of every day.A little exaggerated but you get the point. I'm probally the newest guy here so my time in the Spam War has ben exceptionally short as compared to most of the others. Fact of the matter is we found a place to hang out and exchange ideas and experiences and weren't about to give it up. A topic of discussion once a week would be alright, imho. I think that's why we run kind of hot and cold as not everyone has something to say all the time. Once again, welcome!

did anyone seee the baseball game between China and USA? I saw the picture of the train wreck at home plate. My own opinion is that's part of the game at that level of play.

About that wrestler - he was from Sweden, and it seems that he got ripped off in the semi-final round with many (and I mean many) questionable calls going against him.
He was going to refuse to wrestle in the Bronze medal match, but instead went out and beat his man, then dropped the medal on the podium and walked away. I've been reading up on it, and apparently there are a lot of claims of corruption in the Wrestling governing body. I've even found references to death threats against coaches that protest the corruption. And now you know.....the rest of the story. -- "No job is beneath a man's dignity as long as it is honest and supports his family" - my grandfather http://ma.gnolia.com/groups/bestlife |

Joel, Getting rid of the spam would be excellent. I read the magazine monthly, as does my wife. I can't wait until she gets to that article about the couple that had sex 270 times in a year. I'm sure everyone left that article around the house for their wives to see. Thank you for dropping in and being our moderator. And posting a few topics a couple of times a week would be excellent also.

Apparently the wrestler from Sweden is being vindiacted by the wrestling governing body from what I could tell from headlines today. Hopefully he gets proper justice. The Olympics are wonderful, but every 4 years they get marred by some judging scandal.
