I broke my right leg rather severely three months ago. Recovery time is going to be 18 months minimum and I may never be 100% again. To compound matters, I have developed metatarsalgia in my left foot from handling most of the load. I can get around but that's about it. Can you recommend a good exercise that is low-impact for my ailing pegs? Rowing? Cycling? Swimming isn't option unfortunately.

Thanks...Piobaire

Cycling may work. I think I'd put my bike on a stand though and stay off the road, at least at first. I wouldn't want to risk falling and reinjuring the leg. That's just me though.

Have you seen a physical therapist about this? Maybe they could recommend some exercise forms for you.

I suggest you see a therapist who is familiar with your situation to recommend a program for you.

I'm the new guy I know, but have you tried Tai Chi, yoga, or another internal style of martial arts like Bagua. (NOT Karate, Tae Kwon do, jujitsu, etc. those are external (read: high impact) and could do more harm then good).

You might try stretching, alot, most PT prescribe stretching excercises, a dynamic stretch might help more, stretch and strengthen at the same time. Also, I would humbly suggest no weights. Bodyweight excercises are very low impact. Also, don't overdo it. If you can only do 4 reps, then only do 4. Then work your way up. Static Excercises are also a possiblity, depending on your specific abilities.
