There's an article on Men's Health titled Exercising Your Demonsthat posits the idea that if you are competitive, or driven, you really aren't - you're just depressed.

The article goes on to state that we men are raised to be loners without social skills and primed for depression.

I guess my question is this: WTF??

I am really getting sick of hearing how men are somehow inferior just by being men. And to have it come from Men's Health is even worse, IMHO.

It's become chic to be sick I guess. That way, you can claim to be a victim or something. "Honestly dear/officer/your honor, it's not my fault that I <name your vice> - I'm just depressed because I didn't get held enough as a boy."

Christ's Holy Trousers - I'm not going to be ashamed of being competitive sometimes, or driven to do new things, or to think that the new girl in the next office over is hot. I'm a freakin' man, not some woman with a penis.

If people like the author of that article were in charge, we'd still live in caves and eat berries and carrion.

One of the "men" in the article thinks that Lance Armstrong is "clearly depressed", which is why he won so many Tours. I guess that is what set me off - our best athletes aren't good athletes, who love to compete physically, they are just manifesting their depression through hyper competitiveness.

Sorry, but I call B.S. on that.
