There's an article over at Men's Health that talks about curing diabetes with diet. It basically says that the American Diabetes Association is giving bogus dietary advise to push insulin and other drugs.

My mom is diabetic, and I'm at risk because of that. This article is the last straw - no more non-diet softdrinks, less bread and potatoes, etc.

Diet and exercise can certainly control diabetes (once you have it, I'm not sure you can ever truly cure it). Two years ago, I was diagnoised with pre-diabetes--fasting blood glucose was high, but not yet high enough to be considered diabetes. I immediately changed my eating habits and begun exercising regularly. Three months later, I had my blood glucose checked again and it had dropped to normal.

I'm going to try to restart this thread.

From what I've read, many people have been cured of diabetes. Even years ago, I knew of an elderly woman who was hospitalized and over the course of her illness lost a lot of weight. It was discovered that she no longer needed insulin due to her weight loss.

The article I referenced is pretty clear in it's charge that the American Diabetes Association is in bed with the drug companies - they get major funding from the industry. So what are they more interested in, a cure or a forever-and-ever treatment regime?

Just read the article. It makes a lot of sense. I get from the article that the ADA is saying drugs if diet doesn't work for you. LKS, I think you should maybe cut the simple carbs from your diet and you'll be okay.

About six years ago I went to see my family doctor. Usual guy approach to health, I hadn't had a visit in about five years.

I knew I was carrying too much weight, knew that I was tired all the time. I did all the blood tests, turned out I was high-borderline. My doctor knew me when I was a jock in my teen and early twenties. He said he would hold off diagnosing me as diabetic - giving me a six week period to get my expanding ass back into shape. So I started that night, jogging (shuffling) 4 minutes on, 4 minutes off. A week later, 10 minutes on, 5 minutes off. By the end of the sixth week I was down twenty pounds, was running 3x15 minutes with 4 minutes rest.

Did the blood tests in the seventh week - middle of the normal range. I was sleeping better too. He said I probably had apnea and the weight loss and stress relief meant that I was sleeping well for the first time in probably five years.

So, can it cure diabetes - I don't know if there's clinical proof, but it sure brought me back from the edge of it.

My doctor told me that it was worth the experiment. When I was a kid I competed at a national/international level in my sport. Over the years too many apple fritters and a high stress job pushed me from a 32 inch waist to a 46. Seems once you're diagnosed your world changes - insurance rates go up etc...

My father has diabetes and he uses a herbal medicine called Insulate Plus; it helps to cure and prevent diabetes. His doctor prescribed this medicine to him so, I ordered it immediately from http://www.drugdelivery.ca/ I searched for this medicine everywhere but I couldn’t get it from any dug house found in my locality; herbal medicines are very rare and thus it is difficult to find them. Luckily I got it online. I would like to add that only medicines won’t help one should perform exercise too and eat more fruits and vegetables.

Thanks for the double spamilicious posting. The whole point of my post, if you had bothered to read before spamming, was that you don't need drugs for diabetes.

I smell Aino, and I'm not happy about it.
