Still short on the two mile as well. Good on the rest of it.

I have to say that I haven't really been making enough time for running, which is why I'm deficient in that area.

I can do it, they give a guy quite a break when you are in your mid 60's. I notice how they score the women. I have known some ladies who could really shatter these "expectations" and would consider this test an insult. Had a young women Marine 1st Lt in Korea who could rap out 50 men's pushups with no trouble, ... and she was pretty "easy on the eye" as well.

My wife (57yrs old) tells me that she is up to 14 men's pushups now, but she doesn't like to run so I have know idea how fast she might be.

Keep after it!

The issue of women's fitness requirements in the Army has irritated me since I was a recruit some 27 years ago. The lowered requirements for women are the primary reason that I oppose women in combat operations - if they can't be counted on to drag my sorry ass out of the line of fire should I get shot, I don't want them taking up a spot that a man could fill.

I am very much inclined to agree with you on the question of them going into actual combat. On the other hand, I have had quite a number of them work for me in technical roles, and they were very effective. During one tour I had about 25 male sailors, 25 Marines, and 25 female sailors in my group. That was back in the days when few women were actually allowed in, so the military was able to limit entry to those in the very top intelligence brackets. Need-less-to say, the young women (who enjoyed a 10 to 25 point IQ advantage) were clearly the top performers in our technical duties. I don't think that using them in combat is realistic, but until such time as we have enough men for our volunteer force, we are very dependent on women. I seriously doubt that the Armed Forces will every go back,... unless we bring back the Draft.

I agree - I was originally in MI, and at least 50% of my classmates at AIT were women, and were very capable (although the top 3 graduates were all men).
