Ok, we've all wanted to get in shape. But what does "getting in shape" mean? Not so fat, able to climb a flight of stairs without cardiac arrest?

Here's a challenge for you to consider: If you can't meet the minimum standard for your age group from the Army Standards, do so within 4 months from today. If you accept, post your progress here. If you don't accept, you're a little momma's boy . Wink

No one else? Wimps. Losers. John and I will be all fit and stuff, and the rest of you will be marshmallows sitting on your couches eating bonbons and watching Jerry Springer.

mmmmm, bonbons.

Maybe I should be doing the bonbon thing!
10 Pushups, 25 situps, and 24 minutes for a 2 mile run.

I would say in 2 months I will achieve those standards.

I'm up to 20 situps, 20 pushups. Still working on the 2 mile run though.

Needed to pass: 30 pushups, 32 situps, 18:42 on the run.

Well, I am a little mama's boy...

but I will accept your challenge anyways. I'll test myself tonight and see what i can do in regards to push-ups and sit-ups. Then I will run tomorrow morning, and see where I measure up.

P.S. Love you mama.

Keep us posted PozzSka. I'm still sucking wind on the runs, but should be able to hit the pushup/situp marks.

I got the situps (I've been chubby since I was a kid and was always told to do situps and crunches, never did anything for my appearance but apparently made my upper abs, and hip flexors strong)

Come up a little short on the pushups, i can do about 28 without stopping, but I've never had alot of upper body strength. Got my big legs from my mama, and she knows it.

I still haven't had the chance to rit the bricks for the run, I'm going to drive it off and then have my fiancee time me, so i'm not racing the clock just running.

It was 32 degrees this morning, strong south wind. Went running anyway. Only made 1/2 mile, into the wind.

Oh well.

Pushups 20, situps 20 still.

How's everybody doing? I'm getting into this running at 0-dark-30.

Need some reflectors or something on my sweatshirt though. Feel like a slow moving target out there.

Keep in mind that there is more to the test than just the numbers posted. The push/sit up event is timed and has a 2 minute limit. While doing the push ups you must come to a full up position (arms strait) and a full down position (shoulders parallel with the elbows). The only rest position is the up position (no lying on the floor). The only rest position for the sit ups is the up position (no lying on the floor). Good luck, if it wern't for the 1SG I would surly be fatter.

Absolutely right - there is a time limit. The challenge I put forth was just to pass the numbers, regardless of the time.
