Now that I have started shuffling down the street and on the treadmill, attempting to run more, and lose weight, I have dusted off some running books over the years and started re-reading them. These aren't the conventional "how to books", but memoirs, etc. So far the three best I have read are:
1. Running Scarred by Tex Maule 2. 4 Minutes by Sir Roger Bannister 3. a new one I've picked up: What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami If you can pick up any of these they are worth the read. What do you think of Runner's World magazine? Does it have anything of value in it? Years ago I read Bicycling, but it seemed to be mostly ads for expensive gear I didn't need.

I get Runner's World (wanted the free runner's log). It's mostly there to advertise for shoes, re-hash workout regimens (truly, how many different ways can you break down a runner's training schedule?), and to promote Deena Castor as the super-goddess of US marathoners.
