Well, last week I went to see a cardiologist when it was determined I had a heart murmer After an examine when included a stress test, he "suggested very highly" that I start on the Mediterranian Diet as well as excercise more.

Well I hope that by touching base here once a week, I will keep myself motivated to work at this! It will be one week on Wednesday and as of this AM I have lost 4 pounds. The Diet is not that hard and I have committed to going to the gym every other day (I have had a membership but have not been motivated to go)

Anyway, we will see what happens next week!

Four pounds in one week? Congratulations, John. Sounds like you're off to a good start. How much are you hoping to drop in the coming weeks/months?

My Doctor wants me to lose 30 pounds total. That is a doable goal.

Once you get in to the habit of going to the gym it will be difficult to stop. You will beginnto feel a change in your body and a mental change as well. Keep at it until it becomes part of your routine. You will be amazed. Keep us updated on your progress and let us support you through this adventure.

Keep going. Go pick up something that weighs "about a pound". You will be surprised. Losing about a pound is a great accomplishment.

Congratulations on the 4 pounds so far.

I dropped about 75 lbs in 2004. A few things that kept me motivate were spreadsheets for my workouts and caloric (F-C-P) in-take, and a personal journal. The spreadsheets are an encouragement when you have one of those “I’m not making any progress” days. Look back at where you started and where you are now. My journal gives me a place to pat myself on the back every now and then. Wink

Keep up the good work and keep us updated.

As I said in a previous message I had a "cardiac event" Easter night and had two stents put in one artery. I have lost about 15 pounds and have really tried to eat much healthier.

Congratulation!!!! Just work things out the way it is...

Lossing weight is a very hard task, for you have to maintain your regular diet. Likewise, you have to keep fit all the time, exercise (gym).

Keep up the good work...

No problems with the stents. Visit my cardiologist every couple of months right now and I also see my regular doctor at the same time. Am having trouble losing weight right now, in fact, I have gained back a couple of pounds. I am still exercising however.
