Twice a week is the minimum that I consider acceptable. More often would be better, but I take what I can get! You guys would be astounded at how often us gals in our 40's moan about lack thereof!

I agree about the kids. They are a kicker. But sex begins in the kitchen and your approach and timing are paramount. Do some research and see if you can get something started. Here's another tidbit--the more often a woman has great sex, the more often she wants it.

Probably stuck in my own wretched marriage, lol!

How does sex begin in the kitchen? Well, there is an entire book on the subject, which I have not read to be truthful. The title stuck with me, though, because it is the truth. Foreplay is not the minutes spent just prior to intercourse. With my current partner, it can start the day before. Little jokes that we share and comments or touches that tantalize. It can be the way I am eating ice cream or the way he licks his lips. Things escalate as time goes on and by the time we get to the main event, we are more than eager. This is why twice a week is hardly enough!

In contrast, my illustrious ex's approach was something else. If you read my comments on the topic "Head" you will get the idea. His timing was awful--like 1/2 hour before we were expecting dinner guests (his contribution to the housework was creating it)and he couldn't understand why I was uncomfortable with locking the bedroom door on a Sunday afternoon and letting the kids rampage and/or bang on the door so he could have his 15-20 minutes. Certainly that creates a very sensual and erotic atmosphere! Can't say I ever enjoyed it though. Funny thing about that, eh?

The idea behind the comment that sex begins in the kitchen is that not every encounter leads straight to intercourse. Also, since sex is mostly in the head, if you make your partner feel attractive and sexy, they will respond in a sexy way. Learn to read this--it's not always obvious in the beginning. The trick is to combine the suggestive with affection. Emphasis on "suggestive." This does not mean that you talk to her like she is a stripper. It may turn some women on, but most will likely be offended.

And of course, the kitchen is not the only place........

Thanks for the response! I will have to be more mindful of these suggestions and see what percolates.
